(More customer reviews)As far as kettles go, this one is great.
Demeyere is a Belgian brand, but this kettle was made in Asia. It doesn't bother me but just know that it is not made in Belgium. It uses 18/10 stainless steel, unlike the 18/8 or lower grade stainless steels popular in cheaper kitchen items.
Everything on the kettle is metal, which means everything gets hot when you boil water. Thankfully the handle is just barely warm to the touch, but the whittling knob gets scorching hot so watch out! I actually changed out the knobs with these plastic knobs Le Creuset Replacement Knob.
My particular kettle had some black chips (looked like paint chips) inside when I received it. It must be something leftover from the manufacturing process, and I was very disappointed to find it. And there are some crevices inside the kettle where they got stuck. After a few boils I was able to get it all out of the kettle, but I believe that kitchen items should be 100% clean when it reaches the customer.
The kettle is NOT seamless inside. The construction has lots of folded metal. So if you boil things other than water you might get residue buildup that is nearly impossible to clean.
The kettle's water holding capacity is really impressive considering its exterior dimensions. Other kettles of this exterior size have much smaller water capacities. As with any kettle, do not overfill the inside. I overfilled this kettle once and it spewed out boiling water all over the place when it started boiling.
