This kettle has the wonderful, traditional Le Creuset whistle when the water comes to a boil. It has elegant styling and a durable vessel. What one would expect from such a respecable brand.
It's got some serious flaws though. The handle extends beyond the edges of the kettle an so picks up quite a bit of heat from the burner underneath. It can be extremely hot if you don't take care to use a low flame.
More serious though is that the lid is fitted so snuggly that one needs to place ones palm on the handle and grasp the lids knob with the fingers, then squeeze to make a fist in order to get enough leverage to pull the lid off. It was only after the knob finally broke off that I discovered that the threaded screw holding it on was less than 4 millimeters long.
After 4 months of use, into the trash this kettle goes. I expected better from a brand like Le Creuset.

With its curvy lines and classic appeal, this stovetop teakettle quickly boils up to 1-1/4 quarts of water--perfect for making two cups of tea when visiting with a friend. Measuring approximately 5 by 7-1/2 by 10 inches, the unit's generously sized, wide, flat base allows for greater contact with a heating element for fast results, and its fixed whistle on the pour spout communicates with a high-pitched tone when the water has reached its boiling point. A thumb press opens the pour-spout lid for graceful serving.
As part of Le Creuset's Enamel-on-Steel collection, the superiorly crafted kettle features heavy-gauge steel construction for fast heating and even heat distribution, along with a hard, glossy enamel glaze for both durability and eye-catching beauty on the stovetop. The kettle's heat-resistant, ergonomic handle locks into place for easy lifting and pouring, ensures a secure grip, and keeps hands a safe distance from the steam. The loop-style handle comes securely attached to the kettle with stainless-steel brackets for added peace of mind. To refill the kettle, simply remove its round-shaped lid by pulling up on the stay-cool lid knob. The kettle can be safely used on all heat sources, including induction, and should be hand washed only with hot soapy water and dried thoroughly.
