(More customer reviews)It definitely looks handmade (don't buy if you expect something modern looking). My fireplace is old red brick, so the rustic look all matches. It does the job it was intended to do on my wood insert.
As for safety... remember stoves / inserts get VERY HOT. 500-600 degrees for a good burn. Don't put water in an empty, hot kettle... there may be a steam explosion.
Only add hot water to a kettle to top off a kettle with hot water in it.
Don't put cold water in a kettle and put it on top of the hot stove / insert, the temperature difference may cause the cast iron stove to split.
