(More customer reviews)Rather than the recommended two wrenches, I used a socket and socket adapter with my portable drill to turn the bolts, and a crescent wrench to hold the nuts in place. Then I made the final tightening with the socket wrench. Not counting taking the parts out of the packaging and reading the directions, it took about 20 minutes to put together. All but one of the holes lined up perfectly. The one that was off, was still open enough to force the bolt through.
Everything appears to be well made. The instructions aren't clear about whether the "feet" should be angled in or out. I have some of both, and it appears to have not made any difference... but it would be better if the instructions indicated one way or the other.
So far, the black vinyl-fabric cover has survived a full New Hampshire winter and summer with no signs of decomposition or wear. However, I strongly recommend to the company that they punch a few grommets on the flap hems so that users can attach compression ("bungie") cords or rope or other method of tying-down the flaps. Just a light breeze lifts them up and off, despite the almost worthless hook-and-loop strips at the ends. I wound up running two tie-down straps completely around the top and bottom after I filled the rack with wood, and that worked.

It broke in shipping. The shovel is very sturdy, not like the old one I bought. It is flimsy and about to brake. I am very pleased with the Woodfield Vintage, thank you very much Amazon.

It tips back and rolls so easily while carrying about 150 pounds of wood that even I can push it uphill with no problem.
It comes with a sturdy vinyl cover for protecting your wood from the elements if you leave it outside. Ours sits just inside the garage.
This is definitely a convenient little helper. Just be aware that it won't roll through deep snow.

(More customer reviews)The quality of this item was disappointing. Originally listed at $500 and discounted to just over $100, this sort of pricing would imply a higher quality fireplace accessory. Unfortunately, this was not the case. A google search of this item offers up retailers selling it at approximately $85.
The frame of the piece was warped and difficult to assemble due to having been warped. I managed to do so after working on it for nearly an hour. Because the frame is uneven a shim is required to keep it still. Additionally, the directions included with this item were for a different version of this item.
While it looks nice, I'm guessing a better quality piece of furniture can be found elsewhere.

Landmann Firewood Log Rack Review

(More customer reviews)I ordered two of these racks about two months ago. They were pretty nice with the Landman logo screened on the end rails and on the cover. The rails were a nice quality black finish. This prompted me to order two more and took delivery on them about three weeks ago. Totally different rack. The bottom rails were rusting through the incredibly thin, flat finish, no logo on the rails or the covers. The covers were a poorer grade than the first two I received to the point that one of them ripped up the side while covering the rack, using no force whatsoever. You can tell the difference in the materials just buy looking and feeling them. I would have said to buy these two months ago but now I say to buy American. These are not worth the money any longer.

(More customer reviews)The assembled product is great. It's sturdy and handsome. The color didn't matter to me because it's in my yard and covered. The assembly was easy; however. . . as others have written, the box was ripped open and two bolts were missing. I thought one of the cross braces was missing so I called the manufacturer. Well, as other have noted, they simply don't respond to problems. I left my name, number and issue and never received a call. I found, ultimately that I was missing only two bolts, nuts and washers. I had plenty around the house so I was able to complete the assembly. I must admit. I need another log rack but am skeptical about the packaging and the obvious non-customer service.

2x4basics 90144 Firewood Rack System, Black Review

(More customer reviews)Just made the 90144 rack with a shelf. I wanted an 8 ft. rack, and felt this would provide a sturdier result than just using unsupported uprights. The two kits were only $20, plus 8 pressure treated 2x4s. I did add 8 Simpson metal braces between the base and the uprights, which improved stability. The rack is very solid, and in my opinion, a good product. That being said, my favorite rack is the Woodhaven. I have several, varying from 5' to 12'. If money is no object, they are definitely more solid, and I highly recommend them. However, I need several more racks, and money is definitely a factor in my case. It took a little longer to assemble the 2x4 Basics rack, but it turned out fine. I have also used another plastic rack, but do feel this one is sturdier. For me the low price, relative ease of assembly, and very good result merited the four star rating. It actually took me nearly as long to assemble the Woodhavens, and considerably more $$. Maybe I should have titled this "2x4 Basics, the one to buy when you're having more than one."
