(More customer reviews)Quite frankly - the best microwave I've ever used. Read several reviews around the net, and decided to go for it despite its fairly high price. So glad I did. First, it's flat-out great looking in my newly remodeled kitchen. More importantly, it seems to be more powerful (or at least more efficient) than any other micro I've ever used. It's simple to use - you can punch in time and power settings just like any other micro, but its preset and sensing options so far seem to be extremely accurate. That's quite a "bonus," as I really did not expect those to be much more than gimmicky, but they've proved me very wrong. Note - many micros in this price-range have convection (or more aptly "convection lite") built in; this one does not, but for me it wasn't an issue.
One thing to watch for is your vendor actually having it in stock. I actually tried to purchase this from 3 different vendors who advertised it as "in stock"; however, all 3 had to get it from the manufacturer. Not sure if this is industry-wide, or if I just had a little Schleprock-syndrome. On the first 2, I canceled the order once I got delivery estimates; on the 3rd one, I acquiesced and just waited the extra week. If you need it immediately, beware; if you can wait a week or two, settle in and wait - it's worth the wait.
UPDATE: After one year, it's still performing fine. Note however, this is one of the "leakiest" microwaves I've owned (from an RF perspective). When this microwave is running, it effectively kills any WiFi 802.11 b/g/n signal anywhere around. My profession involves wireless networking, and microwaves are notoriously bad about this, but I have to admit, this one (at least the one I have) is one of the most disruptive I've experienced - you absolutely cannot keep an 802.11 b/g/n connection with this microwave running ... good thing it's quick and doesn't run long ;-). (In case you care, I've had multiple routers/wireless APs and multiple wireless clients with the same results, so the "issue" seems to be with the microwave versus my computer equipment.)

(More customer reviews)We got this as part of the Profile set to match our range/oven. It has some great features, like a push display, and a boost feature to REALLY get some air OUT! Love that. But when I went to push the button for the vent, the whole button panel behind the stainless steel moved back- I broke something. The repair guy just left after telling me I had broken the processor assembly which costs $500+ to replace, and then there's labor. So we're looking at $750 to get a new one? I don't think so. I'll just get a different stainless steel microwave with better reviews!

The built in fan and heating element broke the day after Thanksgiving 2010 - barely 2.5 years after we purchased it. The whole unit will have to be replaced. No warranty. Unbelievable.

WOW!
Being a 'car guy' automove similies seem to fit here, so I'll just say that this oven is like a balanced, blueprinted race motor in your kitchen. Sleek, powerful, responsive. We researched several vendors, and believe me, reviews and feedback are VERY important;and when ordered, the unit was delivered within 4 days. Packaging was secure and unit arrived without incident. Documentation was excellent, installation was straightforward and took less time than expected. Performance has been flawless, just as advertised. The controls are well thought out and logically placed. We really appreciate the multiple levels of lighting and fan speeds, and the accessories packaged with the unit all work well. Large interior volume makes for LOTS of options, touch screen menus are simple to navigate. The styling is both contemporary
and reminiscent of streamline moderne esthetics. The unit is quite heavy and will require at least two strong people to install, and the price is rather hefty, also. We feel, however,that we have gotten great value with this unit.

(More customer reviews)Bought microwave 3.5 yrs ago. Recently the Microwave started reseting after running for 2 seconds. The first really annoying part is that you have to reset the time and date to get the microwave to function again (I hate this!!!) You cannot use until time and date are set.
Found out that RF(Radio Frequency) Mag tube inside of microwave is leaking and the RF is reseting the circuit board causing the microwave to reset.
The cost to repair is greater than the amount to buy another one. GE should make a better product.
Purchased the unit for around $200 so you do the math as to how much it cost per year to use. I will not buy another GE Microwave These things should last longer than a few years.

(More customer reviews)WE've had this oven/microwave for 4 months now and absolutely love it. We got it so that we could have a second oven without doing a major renovation. So far it's worked well as a microwave and great as an oven. I'll assess them seperatly.
--AS a microwave, it's a little slower cooking than others we have had, but heats evenly, has a turntable, and rack. We really love the dial control...kind of like an ipod, simple and efficient.
--As an 2nd oven it is perfect for us and we actually use it frequently as the primary oven because 1) It heats up faster and cooks faster 2) It is more energy efficient with a smaller space to heat adn 3) it vents outside so it doesn't heat up the house in the summer at all.
As for the price, it is expensive, but was a much cheaper way to get a second oven for us and we are very happy with it.

It stops working properly after 1 year.
Don't waste your money on this.

(More customer reviews)About 6 months ago, we upgraded from an ancient GE spacemaker - might have been 10 years old. So anything was going to be better. I wanted one that had a revolving turntable to spin the food and I wanted a stronger microwave. This one delivers. But Please - take my advice and don't try all the silly "auto sensor" features. Use manual choices and you can't go wrong. If you are upgrading from a lower watt microwave, be sure to adjust and lower your "usual" cook times. I burned popcorn and Weight Watcher Smart Ones meals at first so I speak from experience. My husband has yet to understand this concept and still burns food!
I have the black color instead of the bisque which I think looks nicer and is relatively easy to keep clean. However, I wish I had stuck with bisque color instead of getting black finish for our stove and dishwasher though because keeping those clean is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT.
I like that there is two optional racks for those holiday family meals when we're heating up multiple large items.

(More customer reviews)We bought a combo set: microwave, stove top, oven, and refrigerator. The stove and oven work fine, but the microwave went out only after a little over a year of usage. We payed a couple hundred dollars for the microwave and it went out!! I've bought cheap microwaves that do the job almost as good that have lasted more than 8 years!!
On another note I would not buy their refrigerator freezer side by side because the refrigerator part does not keep your food cold. If you have a "good" refrigerator and you turn up the fridge part it normally makes your water and milk turn to icicles. But this one did not. I turned up both of them and the freezer was really cold, but the fridge part did not seem colder, very bad!

(More customer reviews)I like this microwave. It works well, has good features. My gripe is one of those maddening little design flaws that makes you pound your head on the wall - or wish you could pound the engineers' heads on the wall.
We have ours mounted above the stove, so the light on the bottom of the microwave functions as the stove light. Lights do burn out, so you would design it for quick and easy bulb changes, right? No. 1) This uses some obscure bulbs I haven't seen before - trip to Home Depot! 2) The mounting is by a Phillips screw that is positioned so that if it falls (and it's screwed in upwardly so it will) it can easily fall behind the stove. And did. But that's not all. 3) The bulbs plug in backward to the front of the stove, so you have to feel with your fingers or use a mirror to push the prongs of the bulbs toward you into the holes that you can't see. All this sounds picky and unimportant, and it is, until your bulbs burn out (ours lasted a year), and then it's a completely unnecessary, stupid irritation. What were they thinking?
Again, it's a good microwave. We love it, except for once in a while when we're going to hate it.

(More customer reviews)I am very disappointed at the poor reliability of this unit. Ours is less than a year old and has failed--now, when attempting to cook, the unit shuts off before the end of the programmed time. Even though the light comes on and the turntable turns, the unit does not heat food. Like others, I purchased this unit based on the recommendation in Consumer Reports; this recommendation didn't pan out. I tried to schedule warranty service and GE is making us wait a week to schedule and their frustrating telephone system does not provide information on where I can take it for service for faster turnaround (and didn't put me in touch with a live representative).
When the microwave oven worked, it worked fine. We replaced a Sharp unit with this one; though this unit has the advantage of a larger capacity, its controls are less intuitive.
Based on poor reliability and poor service, we're certainly not going to buy another GE microwave. We've had good success with GE refrigerators in the past; this is very disappointing. A quick search on the web now reveals that GE microwave ovens are not reliable--many others appear to have similar problems with the magnetrons.
Perhaps this is one reason why GE is looking to sell its appliance business...

(More customer reviews)this is the second sharp microwave i've had and with both, the digital display failed after brief episodes without power. unfortunately, the failed part costs as much as a new microwave. the first microwave we threw out. the second is still under warranty and will be fixed. sharp's authorized service center advised me that this 'happens a lot with sharps' and told me that they currently had seven more in the shop for the same problem. in fact, the part is on back order and i'm waiting for it before my oven can be serviced! sharp denies a problem! i find it hard to believe that they are unaware of huge orders for this 'board' that controls the digital display. my advise is to stay away from sharp microwaves until sharp fixes this obvious problem.

(More customer reviews)We installed Sharp model KB6524 in June 2009 during a kitchen remodel. Every appliance in our kitchen is new and this particular appliance is my favorite due to the uniqueness and convenience of this model. This microwave has exceeded our expectations in every way. One of the reasons we bought this microwave was that we needed a microwave that would fit under the countertop so our kids could reach it. It is also nice that the door slides open and I can reach down to lift out the food instead of having to reach up at face level and lift food out and down. I liked the unique concept of a drawer that pulls open instead of a door that pops open. I was a little concerned about reviews on earlier models that the auto open and close function on this microwave has a tendency to break. However, it seems that Sharp decided to manufacture this one so it closes with a button or by pushing or pulling on it to eliminate that problem. I was also concerned that it didn't have a piece in it that rotates the food. So, we were surprised to find that none of the food we have cooked has hotspots (note: I only use my microwave for reheating...not cooking). I LOVE this microwave. I had considered purchasing the 30" but decided that it was unlikely that I would need to put a dish in the microwave that was bigger than 24". So far, this has been the perfect size. It is even tall enough that I can put my portable mug in it to heat up my tea. Also, my lovely daughter did not know that you can't put metal in the microwave. She put her fork in with her plate. Surprisingly, the microwave did not arch. We checked the manual and it said you can even use aluminum foil to cover portions of meat. Not sure how they do it, but I'm not likely to try it. The microwave seems fine after the fork episode. This microwave also has programmable features such as softening ice cream. It asks what size of ice cream then sets the time as appropriate. It's a nice feature but I'm not usually softening a whole tub of ice cream. Just a portion of a tub. One other feature I use frequently, pushing the power button after closing the drawer will turn on the microwave in one minute increments. As an example, pushing the button 3 times will equate to 3 minutes. This is a pricey microwave but has been well worth the expense in our experience. I highly recommend this microwave!

We were not allowed to return the microwave to the store due to GE's Warranty Policy which mandates that a GE repair technician must determine if the microwave is repairable. If it is repairable, then they will force you to fix it. So after waiting for 1 week for a GE service technician to show up at our home, he determined that the "magnetron," the heart of the microwave, was dead and that he ordered another one and we need to wait for it to arrive and then reschedule a visit for him to repair it. We called GE to get their authority to allow us to return the microwave back to the store to either get our money back or return it for a new unit and they refused as per their policy. They obviously do not care about the consumer who obviously bought a lemon that died within 1 week's time. They make no exceptions. And we will make no exception in the future. We will NEVER buy any GE product again. This is the third GE product that we have purchased that has failed within a year's time. They may talk about quality but they lack integrity and clearly show that they do not care about the consumer. They respect only their own policies and processes. And so we purchased a new GE microwave less than 1 month ago, to replace an Amana that lasted over 5 years, and we are still left with no microwave and at least 2 more weeks and pray that it doesn't fail again.
And if you take the time to Google: GE "microwave oven" customer complaint...you will be flooded with bad reviews!

My only disappointment is the LCD display. It has a very highly-directional viewing angle, focusing down to facilitate use by shorter people. If standing near the display, I must stoop to read it. Otherwise, this item deserves a perfect "10".

(More customer reviews)This is our 3rd version of this same unit (1st one sold w. house...second burned out after 11 years of continuous use! This newest of this Sharp line is very good looking, beautiful Stainless throughout & larger (inside) then previous units...it has really simplified convection & mix cooking with help of it's internal computer. This is great for all of your cooking, especially cooking for 2, we never use the regular oven except for a large turkey (this unit will hold a 10# bird.) There was a problem with one of the large bolts that holds it on the back plate..did not line up correctly...that was a pain. Also shipping by UPS or FED EX ends up with a mutilated box & I'm sure damaged units (we lucked out no damage to unit- the unit is quite heavy 84# so I'm sure the carrier just "heaves" it - so if your box is badly damaged don't even open it - send it back for a new one) they should really be shipped using another source.
