(More customer reviews)We had been searching for a double-sided griddle and decided to try this one when it appeared on Amazon.com because of the amazing price, which is significantly less than any others we have had our eye on. It arrived. I used it. And now I know why.
It is light. Too light. What this means is that I spend a bit of time chasing it around my stovetop. But the end result is pleasing - among thigs we have prepared with it are pancakes, eggs, grilled salmon and grilled cheese for my children. It is made of cast aluminum, so when it is stationary it DOES cook evenly and IS non-stick.
The more the food has to be attended to, (ie stirred, flipped, etc...), the more the griddle moves around. Now, perhaps this is due to the type of burner covers on our gas stove, but that still inidcates that this griddle is not universal.
There are a lot of things I was pleased with, though. The ease of cleaning is a definite plus - it cleans beautifully!! Also the fact that it cools down quickly after use is another nice perk in my book, especially with a houseful of curious kids who love to "help" in the kitchen.
Bottom line, if your stovetop setup would allow this to sit flat and flush against the surface (flat top electric stove) or the burner covers (gas stove), then by all means give it a shot. For the amazingly low price of this item, it is a good choice if you don't want to spend a large amount of money on an item that doesn't get used daily.
As for us, I'll continue to chase it around my stovetop until I can find a good deal on another one with slightly larger dimensions.
