I discovered stovetop grills 10 years ago at Costco, a $20 reversible non-stick of some sort, that was ok but tended not to be non-stick after a couple of uses, and pretty quickly wore out. I'd buy a second, then a third. Anyway, long story short, I went through several grills over the years and was really frustrated and ready to give up.
Then a few months ago I invested in this Nordic Ware grill and wow, you really do get what you pay for. I've used this little sucker constantly since then and it is still in pristine condition, nothing and I do mean nothing sticks, and cleanup is a dream. Barring natural disaster or an attack by the blob (ooops, my age is showing), I think this one will outlast the cockroaches!

(More customer reviews)I bought this griddle over 8 years ago for $39. It has been very useful with my electric stove for making many pancakes, burgers, grilled cheese, etc. I can cook 5-6 pancakes at a time, burgers & buns together, 4 grilled cheese sandwiches. Unlike the non-stick model 3560 also listed on this site, you can use this over high heat without any damage to it. Unlike the other review, I don't find it hard to clean. Over time, it retains some darkness of color (reminds me of cast iron), but it is not as heavy nor do you have the rust issues. Cleanup is easy with my blue Scotch-Brite multi-purpose scrub sponge. I'm planning on buying one for my sister and was delighted to find the same griddle available.

Your hashbrowns won't be a sloppy, crumbly mess anymore. This heavy little bugger is perfect for the aforementioned applications and about 40,000 more but the thing I use it for on almost a daily basis is preparing tofu. That magical bean curd benefits tremendously from the steady pressure of a hot lodge grill press!

While most chefs use a spatula to squeeze out fat from burgers and other meats, the process is a bit unwieldy and not always effective. Enter this grill press from Lodge, which features a heavy-duty cast-iron base that efficiently flattens your meats while on the grill or burner. The press offers a perfect way to drain fat from beef, eliminate curl from bacon and ham strips, and hold heat within grilled-cheese and panini sandwiches. As with all Lodge Logic items, the press is preseasoned through a proprietary "electrostatic" vegetable oil spray system. The preseasoning process readies the press for cooking right out of the box, making it far more convenient than old-style cast-iron items that required seasoning before use. The cast-iron base is not only heavy, but also attractive thanks to its unique hammered finish. In addition, chefs will find it easy to wield due to the "cool grip" spiral handle. I love all my cast iron cookware, except this one. The enamel coating on it is horrible. I'm not sure you should even season something that has been enameled, and I would be willing to try (probably ruining the griddle completely), except that this griddle really does not hold heat evenly. I am going to give this one back to my mother in law and buy a lodge logic.
sorry Emeril, you rock, just don't like this piece.
