(More customer reviews)Did a lot of in-store shopping first to compare the quality of electric fireplaces/media center. It has a substantial appearance, yet is one of the smaller units out there (one of the reasons I bought it). This is a quality piece of furniture with nice details: beveled glass, beautiful weighty wood and good trimwork - the expresso is nearly black and goes perfectly with black pieces in the room.
It does a good job heating a small sunroom in 20 degree weather set at medium heat(replaced older electric heat with this unit).
Assembly pretty easy for me....fair amount of parts, but well labeled and good directions. A couple of steps were easier with an extra pair of hands but could be done alone. Does NOT look like it was assembled at home!
It would be nice if the sound were more realistic but sound is seldom on since TV or music is usually on.
Couldn't believe the price range - 999 +tax in stores, and anywhere from just over 600 with shipping (that I jumped on through Amazon) up to 1700 at one online shop!
I've had many compliments, and look forward to getting a lot more use out of my cozy sunroom this year! Two thumbs up - highly recomend!

The reason is, once you've got one side all good and seasoned, when you flip it to use the other side, that seasoning you worked hard to get will warp and you have to start over; Also, whatever you cook on the other side will taste like stove burner because that's where it's been all this time!

If you use your grill on your deck or store it outdoors all the time this would work perfectly. If you are using this grill as a "take along" item only then you can do without it.

When the top is off it provides a solid stable base for the lantern.It also provides a small storage area for mantels and spare matches. My only real objection is that getting the lantern off and on the base. It is a real terror. And getting the cover off the base is just as difficult. I did get the carry case in pretty cold weather so Perhaps when the weather is warmer it will be easier, at least I hope so. All in all it is does just what it supposed too.

Trudeau 0823004 Electric 11-Piece 3-in-1 Fondue Set Review

(More customer reviews)The Trudeau electric fondue pot is a triumph of form following function. Being electric it is very convenient to use and arguably safer than "sterno" units. It is versatile and can be used with cheese, meat or dessert fondues. Compared to others presently on the market, it has the distinct advantage of being the only one truly designed for all three types of fondue.
I tested the Rival and the Cuisinart. Both use direct heat technology, which is fine for oil or broth based fondue which require high heat. However, when you cook cheese or dessert you have use a low heat setting. Both units cycle between "on" and "off" at various intervals trying to keep a steady temperature. This creates either rapid boiling or fast cooling. Making a cheese or chocolate fondue with the Rival and Cuisinart is doable, but be prepared to be stirring the pot a lot to prevent scorching the food. The Westinghouse seems to be the same design as the other two, but I have not tried it.
As for the Trudeau it has several nice features. First, the pot is separate from the heating base. This means you can heat the pot in the kitchen and bring it to the table when ready. The heating surface is teflon coated for easy clean up. The unit is also more "upright" than the other electrics which takes up less space on your table, while looking darn good too. IMHO.
However, what gives the Trudeau its distinct advantage is the unique double boiler system where, when making cheese or dessert fondue, you fill the chrome pot with 20 ounces of water and insert a stoneware crock into the pot. The arrangement allows for even heating at lower temperatures which is essential for cheese and chocolate fondues.
For oil or broth fondues, the chrome pot sit atop the direct heat of the heating base as you would expect. Six better than average fondue forks are included along with a fork holder for the chrome pot to keep the forks from sliding around. Another nice feature is the patented electric plug which eliminates the guesswork of knowing which way to insert the plug into the base.
If you want one fondue pot to serve all your needs, this is the one to buy.

1. It allows the use of a larger LP tank (I have a 20 lb cylinder). I am certain the savings from buying LP fuel in bulk will pay for the hose.
2. You can locate the bulk tank a good distance away from the lit heater. I use the heater primarily in my garage, and with the hose I can put the heater up on a shelf or on the workbench, off the floor, and still have the bulk tank in a convenient and safe spot.
3. The hose can be used with any propane appliance that uses disposable propane cylinders.
Here's an essential safety tip when using this hose: be sure to shut/close the valve on the bulk tank BEFORE you remove the hose from the tank. It's possible to remove the hose end from the bulk tank without closing the tank valve and you will quickly find out that liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is another name for stinky, oily mess when it comes squirting out of the valve as I've done.

If you go to the BeaterBlade.com website, or to Amazon's webpage for the 6 quart KitchenAid BeaterBlade, you will find that the Pro5 line requires the BeaterBlade for the 6 quart KitchenAid models. I'm writing this review to prevent others from making the same mistake I did. DO buy the BeaterBlade attachment though--it is a wonder!

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Beater Blade to use with my Viking 7-Qt. mixer; my primary use of that machine is making artisan breads.
I love my Viking mixer for bread making, but occasionally use it to make cookies which contain a high proportion of oatmeal. Thus, the dry ingredients are prone to gathering along the sides and bottom of the mixing bowl and require that I stop the mixer, lift the head and move the ingredients using a spatula. While that isn't exactly a Herculean task, it is annoying. However, due to a stubborn streak and a less than industrious attitude on the particular day, I tried scraping the side of the bowl while the mixer was down and moving - even though I know better. The result was a broken spatula - just as one would expect.
When I saw this Beater Blade, I thought it might solve the problem. Once you have adjusted the Beater Blade, it does an excellent job of clearing the sides and bottom of the bowl. If you mix a lot of cookie dough or batter-type foods, then this item is well worth the money you will spend for it. The Beater Blade doesn't generate heat like the metal beaters, and, as a result, shortenings do not melt during creaming. The final product is much less "soupy" than when making cookie doughs using a metal beater. However, if you use your mixer primarily for breads, as I do, then the the Beater Blade is probably something you can live without.
I rated this item four stars because its utility is questionable in relation to the cost. Further, I have some concern about the longevity of the blade itself and whether it will wear quickly or whether it will become brittle if washed in the dishwasher.

The other reviewer needs to remember that the grates are non-stick, so SOS pads can be a little rough on them. Coleman does now make a cast iron grill grate for the Roadtrip grill. Maybe they need to get those instead.
